• What is Plantar Fasciitis?

Plantar Fasciitis is a common foot condition that can start off with inflammation in the fascia of the plantar surface of the foot. Plantar Fasciitis usually presents itself first thing in the morning when you go to get up out of bed and put weight on your foot. This is because during the night the plantar fascia or the connective tissue on the bottom of your foot that is inflamed becomes tightened down. This can happen after a period of time of prolonged sitting, wearing non supportive footwear or just with degenerative changes in your foot. Sometimes we even see a sudden onset with pregnancy. MFR is an effective treatment for plantar fasciitis. An extensive evaluation will be performed to look at your gait, posture and footwear to determine your etiology or risk factors for this condition. Sometimes bracing at night is required to allow the fascia to heal. We will provide hands on treatment to release the fascia on the plantar surface of your foot into your leg and give you an individual stretching program and self-release techniques to aide in your recovery. We also at times use specialized taping techniques and refer out for orthotics if necessary. You don’t have to live with plantar fasciitis pain.
